About

Introduction

I am Rebekah, a self taught pet portrait and wildlife artist from Kent.

I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Animal Conservation and Biodiversity and a passion for wildlife which I hope to share through my art.

I work on various wildlife pieces trying to focus on lesser known or vulnerable species but also drawing some popular favourites.

My medium is pencil which I use on high quality paper. I use predominately Faber Castell Polychromos and Carand'ache Luminance to create bespoke pieces in realistic detail.

I also create pet portraits on commission based within the UK. I love to capture each pets character especially in the eyes! From horses to dogs, bearded dragons to hamsters I thoroughly enjoy creating all pet portraits that will bring so much joy either as a gift, memorial piece or as a personal present.

I offer a range of original art and prints, bespoke handdrawn wooden art pieces, handdrawn wooden decorations and a number of homewares printed with my artwork.

A little background

My enthusiasm for drawing started at a young age along with my passion for wildlife, greatly influenced by my family. As I grew older my enthusiasm for wildlife took over and I went onto study animal related courses in college and then in university I studied a degree in Animal Conservation and Biodiversity. It was during this time that interest in my art grew and I received my first pet portrait commissions. As this increased it lead to the decision that after graduating I would put my degree to use in a slightly different way.

I made the decision to combine my art and animal conservation by spreading awareness through my art. From then onwards my business has slowly grown and continues to do so.

The aim is to expand further using my art to provide information on species in need around the world as well as species that just need a little more understanding. I aim to do this through information posters, calendars and more! It is my main goal to spread awareness and information on the amazing species that we share our world with and maybe along the way I will help to spark another young individuals passion for the natural world!

My Family and partner played a massive part in giving me the confidence to pursue my passion and start Bex Art and Designs which has now been running for 6 years. My late mum in particular greatly influenced the decision to start Bex Art, she was one of my biggest supports and was so enthusiastic about my work.

To be able to do something I am so passionate about as a full time job is a blessing. I love what I do and I hope my work brings others joy too.
